Talk:Hosting WordPress

Maybe this page would be best if it just linked to the WP.org page (which has the host letter now) and told people where to search for a host that met these requirements. matt 08:59, 12 Sep 2004 (UTC)

This page should probably not exist. There is a general WordPress page which could have the link to the WP.org page that gives the requirements. --NuclearMoose 15:44, 22 Sep 2004 (UTC)

I don't think so; in line with the "encyclopedia of WordPress" ideal others have mentioned, I think the page should at least be present, even if it only refers users to another location. --morganiq 00:00, 16 Dec 2004 (GMT)

Imo (posting 10 years later almost to the day), the only overlap with https://wordpress.org/hosting/ and https://wordpress.org/about/requirements/ are the 'Server Requirements' and 'Hosting Providers' sections (the former can be linked, the latter removed). This article is different from the host letter, however, in that it appears to be geared towards a more technically competent reader: it recommends Digital Ocean, Linode, AWS, etc., while the host letter recommends providers that most developers might otherwise avoid. Unless I'm missing something obvious, wouldn't it be ideal to have recommendations for both audiences? Beginners and 'developers' (for lack of a better umbrella term) alike? This entry should probably be updated to that effect. JeremyP (talk) 13:42, 18 December 2014 (UTC) ---

I've been told that the Codex generally avoids recommending commercial providers, so ignore that thought JeremyP (talk) 14:08, 18 December 2014 (UTC)
