I'm a programmer by schooling and have been working with PHP for years. WordPress became my favorite blogging software quickly because 1) it was written in PHP and 2) it just "worked".
I try and continue to get it to just work for me and have written plugins and modified the source code (of my own installation) towards that goal.
I also have a sharp eye for what is useful and readable copy on a webpage - though it may take me a few iterations, I generally write very clear documentation.
At last WordPress has some quality documentation! We've come a long way since WP 1.2.
Right now I'm most interested in writing the query posts page and will setup a draft here: JamesVL query posts draft.
