Introduction

This article aims to highlight the benefits of using Wordpress to power your corporate website. Since Wordpress is free software, it doesn't have the benefit of multi-million dollar advertising campaigns. But by the end of this piece you may just understand why that is a good thing.

Benefits of Wordpress

Listed below are some of the main benefits of using Wordpress.

Freedom

Perhaps the most attractive feature of Wordpress is that it's completely, totally and utterly free. What's more - it always will be! The developers that code Wordpress will never charge for it, or a part of it.

Secondly, Wordpress is open source. That means that you (or your programmers) can take apart the wordpress application and customize it to suit your own needs. In the process you will be able to customize the backend of your application and making it everything from a simple blog to a fully fledged CMS. Now how's that for flexibility?

Extensibility

Like XHTML, Wordpress is extensible. You can choose from a plethora of Themes and Plugins to make Wordpress look and act in pretty much any way you please. Best of all, most of these Wordpress extensions are free, and maintained by the developer community at no cost.
