Thanks for coming by.

My name is Scott and I'm somewhat a WordPress enthusiast. I've developed several WordPress themes (links below) and am generally known for my interest in applying minimalist design to blogs.

Theme Development

I'm very interested in developing themes for WordPress. I have maintained several themes all the way from version 1.5 all the way to the current release.

Themes

  • Barthelme
    • Barthelme is a fluid, two-column theme with lots of theme options. It's about presenting the content in a slightly different way; the theme that aims to triumph typography.
  • blog.txt
    • Blog.txt is designed to impact your content in the most minimal way: using white space as a major design element, guiding the reader to the content.
  • plaintxtBlog
    • The original minimalist three-column blog design, its light sidebars and uncluttered layout make it ideal for customizing.
  • Sandbox
    • The Sandbox is a theme for themers. It has the ability to be easily skinned, so beginners will feel comfortable styling it since they only need to know CSS. More experienced designers will drool at the rich semantic markup and profusion of classes, dynamically generated by a few functions.
  • Simplr
    • Simplr is a now classic one-column theme that provides a unique format for narrowing focus to the content at hand. Simplr is about reducing clutter.
  • veryplaintxt
    • Veryplaintxt is an exceptionally clean, content-centered theme. While it is simple in appearance, it is robust in its functionality, offering many features alongside a thoughtful design.

Sandbox Theme Templates

The Sandbox is possibly the best core template available for WordPress. While the Sandbox lacks any actual design, its semantic structure coupled with dynamic classes make it an ideal theme for those who simply want to design a theme and not build one.

There are a number of examples of Sandbox theme template available. Start with the Sandbox Designs Competition where you'll find over 40 theme templates for the Sandbox. Enjoy!

Plugin Development

I call my plugins my experiments. While guaranteed to work, these plugins address issues I encountered using WordPress. These modify and/or enhance the core functionality of WordPress—which is what makes WordPress great.

Plugins

  • Blog Summary
    • Blog Summary produces a semantic list of the latest entries complete with excerpts. Simply use the shortcode `[blog-summary]` on any page/post. Ideal for quickly creating a hAtom-enabled static page for your blog.
  • Custom Field Widget
    • The Custom Field Widget displays values of custom field keys, allowing post- and page-specific meta sidebar content with limitless applications.
  • Easy Contact
    • Easy Contact is a simple, highly extensible XHTML contact form featuring spam-reduction measures, GUI customization, and shortcode-based insertion.
  • Extended Options
    • Extended Options keeps meta data and certain WordPress tweaks persistent regardless of the active theme without editing any theme files.
