PidKey means Personal Identifier Key. The underlying principle of this method is this: By default, the recipient authorizes email reception from senders listed in his address book or from those the recipient gave his email address with his PidKey attached.

This method differs and completes challenge-response (CR)/message-response (MR) spam filter systems in four ways: All messages sent by the recipient are signed by system; Where as MR/CR requires unknown first time senders to answer a message from the recipient,; with PidKey there is no such requirement; If no PidKey is detected in the initial message, a signed MR/CR is sent to sender; Signed messages avoid the initial loop and potential deadlock between two MR/CR system using system signatures.
