background :: I am a designer and beginning (but kinda old to be beginning to be one) developer. I have many years print and web experience but have only recently begun using WordPress (and other CMS/blog engines and frameworks) because I have become totally addicted to blogging and blogs – although none of mine are currently online due to remakes of websites still in progress.
usefulness :: My useful skills in this context would include HTML, template design, customization; information design and structuring; decent CSS; writing and editing; project organization. I am bilingual (French-English) and live in Québec, Canada. I recently "managed" the French localization of blinklist.com, a really fun collaborative effort. I'm (always) in the process of getting old and new client sites valid and up-to-date and trying out new web apps. I am a great admirer of Matt and the whole WordPress gang and love the app.
I can write good tutorials and enjoy writing/editing documentation, and so far nobody's ever gotten lost following my directions to my way-out-in-the-country home. Like many other "older" folks, I began coding for the web before WYSIWYG existed, let alone Dreamweaver but it seems that I just can't get enough of learning! I'm messing around a lot with PHP these days, and beginning in Ruby/Rails.
willing :: I'm interested in helping in any small way I can; I have been documenting important learning discoveries related to Wordpress as I go along and am working on tutorials for my own clients to help them do their own edits... I would be happy to share these when they're done.
While my workload/life is incredibly full, you know what they say… if you want to get something done, ask a busy person to do it! Writing this at 1 am after an April 5 snowstorm in Québec while trying to figure out why that div isn't in the right place and listening to the Persuasions on internet radio…
