Again, welcome and let us know how we can help you help us on the WordPress Codex.
REMINDER
WE NEED YOU!
Codex Cleanup Week is Saturday, June 18 through Sunday, June 26. This is a major push to clean up the Codex and stuff it full of great documenation so we can relax a little this summer.
Thanks for everything you do!

Thanks for the note about using the css to change the look. We have several reasons for this request. First, it is a chance for new people to get into the code that is "familiar" and do some fixing, luring them into more activities and responsibilities in the Codex. Simple simple easy stuff.
Second, the issue is not just the use of the code and tt tags. They are often used in combination with PRE and in other very wrong ways which cause validation errors. We're hoping that people will fix these as they go, and since they aren't very consistent, using a SQL to search and replace these errors is difficult.
Anyway, that's the reasons. Wish I had a few people to come in and fix all those nagging little bugs in my site. ;-)
I'm available via my user page or live on the irc chat for #wordpress and #wp-docs most of the daylight hours in the USA, so ping me (relle) or leave a message if you have any other questions or are looking for something to do to help. I'm really excited about the Codex Cleanup activities and we have a lot more we're adding to the list this week in time for all the action.
Thanks! Lorelle 01:41, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for the welcome. I appreciate your patience.
If the problem with <code>
and <tt>
has to do with misuse or validation errors, then that should be spelled out. The problem I see is that they have two different meanings, and it's the appropriate meaning that should be used. The <code>
tag is a structural tag that means the content is a fragment of computer code. The <tt>
is a font style tag. While not officially deprecated, it is officially discouraged in the Fonts section of the HTML 4.01 Specification[1]. Gary Feldman 12:26, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)
The Codex Documenation Team and all of WordPress thank you for your time, effort, and contributions during this past Codex Cleanup Week. It has been amazing. Over twenty new documents were added, and more are still in the works that will be released over the next couple of weeks. The entire Codex is now categorized, improving the ability of users to find the related information they are looking for.
The next big Codex-related event is WordPress Backup Week July 23-30. The project will promote backing up your WordPress database and site for the user's protection and further develop the relationship between the Codex and the WordPress Support Forum. Documentation volunteers will be cleaning up and expanding the backup and restore information on the site and Forum volunteers will be readied to help users in the Forum walk through their site backups. We need your help.
We are also starting a page for information and sign up for a variety of Fundraising and Promotions Events for WordPress and your help is needed there, too.
Thanks again for helping.
