Categorizing the Codex

Thank you for your attempt at categorizing the Codex, but we currently do not have a category for RSS and we have just finished categorizing the Codex. And now, we do. Please discontinue categorizing files until you have talked to the documentation team about how to do so. The categorizing of the Codex was a major task and we tend to make these kinds of changes democractically. Requests about categorizing pages need to be requested via the docs mailing list. We spent a very long time deciding and preparing for this task and it was just completed a week ago. Thank you. Lorelle 12:49, 2 Jul 2005 (UTC)

A decision by the team (emergency decision) was that while the intend was good, the application wasn't thought out. RSS is a subcategory of a type of FEED. It is not representative of all Feeds. So we changed the category to Feeds and changed all the pages referenced. Many of the pages were not appropriate to be included in that category. For an example of how we decided upon our new categories, see Codex Categories.
It took three months of discussions to establish the need for categorizing these pages. There weren't enough articles when we began our talks to justify them. Now there are. The Codex is not your normal Wiki. We work very hard to make sure that it is cleaner and some decisions take a long time, but they are well thought out. We will be setting up subcategories within the next few months and probably using them on our task list in a fall Codex Cleanup. We would love to have your input to help us decide how to subcategorize things. And by then, we should have even more documents to categorize. ;-) Thanks again for helping us to rethink this process and make sure that we are making the Codex as simple, clean and easy to use as possible.
