Smart Update Pinger

Dear Michael,

Would you add this:

  • The Smart Update Pinger (requires registration) provides correct extended ping request handling, future post pings, logging, and avoid sending any ping notification when editing previously published posts.

Back onto this page: http://codex.wordpress.org/Update_Services please

It got deleted in this changeset: http://codex.wordpress.org/index.php?title=Update_Services&diff=104566&oldid=100216 - an oversight may have been made here: the plugin was never on extend.

History: http://codex.wordpress.org/index.php?title=User_talk:MichaelH/Archive_2008#Smart_Update_Pinger

Thanks!

User:Roel1 - Mrmist removed that plugin link as the plugin is not in the WordPress repository. Please submit your plugin at WordPress.org/extend/plugins.

Hi Michael, I understand, but I prefer not to have the plugin in the repository. Would you place the link back? Thanks.

Why are you deleting Bengle Language Pack 3.0?

Can you tell me the reason of deleting Bangla Language Pack 3.0 from here please? http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_in_Your_Language#Bangla_-_Bengali_.28bn_BD.29

What do you make of this section?

Not sure what to do with http://codex.wordpress.org/index.php?title=Webuzo&rcid=151414

Mrmist - see the note I left at User_talk:Jose25. Hope you agree with that 'solution'. Thanks. --MichaelH (talk) 14:24, 21 January 2012 (UTC)
Yep seems about best :) mrmist

User:Agtile - that link was removed last year with this comment "remove outdated and badly maintained article". --MichaelH (talk) 14:11, 14 February 2012 (UTC)
And since I disagree with the above comment it was added back. User:Agtile 14 February 2012
I tend to agree with the decision to remove it. Please don't re-add the link without discussing it first, on the docs mailing list if necessary. Note as a general rule we prefer people to expand articles on the codex rather than linking to external sites for this very reason - the external sites easily become outdated, cannot be fixed by the wider community, and can simply disappear. mrmist

Removing Obsolete "WordPress as a CMS page"

Thanks for the welcome. Could use some help/guidance on an issue I'm hoping to tackle.

The page User:Lastnode/Wordpress_CMS is consistently the first Google result for "WordPress CMS" and has not seen a substantive update in more than two years. I made a comment on the talk page, but because it's a user's abandoned draft, there's not much editor traffic, it appears.

I added a disclaimer to the top (after fielding concerns from a handful of confused potential users), but suggest that the page be sunsetted as it is no longer applicable with the introduction of CPTs, CTs, and MS since 3.0. Benbalter 15:08, 8 March 2012 (UTC)

Benbalter - could you post these comments to the wp docs mailing list as I'm not sure if this should be deleted, especially now that it's flagged as obsolete. Thanks. --MichaelH (talk) 18:19, 8 March 2012 (UTC)

Michael,

Thanks for the info. I have found the Codex to be incredibly useful and am excited to be able to give back from time to time.

I will check out the reference information you sent to make sure that I am doing things (more) correctly as I begin helping out.

Leo

Welcome

I'm a little late to responding, had a pile of work come right after I signed up. As I mentioned on the docs mailing list, I'm a coder and a grammar nerd. Caught up on my email tonight and discovered http://wpdocsteam.wordpress.com/, so that's where I'm starting.

Thank you!

Thank you, my friend, for welcoming everyone who participated last night in the WordPress PDX Meetup. And for your long time dedication and passion for this project. You are amazing! And I don't say thank you enough for all that you do for so many. You are the best.

Foreign Characters Lost

Odd - AH, they won't hold in my text editor when I copy the whole article! Good catch. Thanks!

Thank you for your help

I expect I'll be doing more reading than participating initially but thanks again for helping me get started working with wordpress coding. My first widget is live and (after some initial bungling with SVN) I have the basic widget in place. Patch94

The use of commas

In Spanish not put a comma before parentheses. The use of commas in these paragraphs is much improved and I would do. Greetings. Mpcdigital 08:48, 19 September 2012 (UTC)mpcdigital

Thanks

Thanks. :-)

I would like to improve codex but I always find MediaWiki tough to use! Still, I will make use of my next few weekends to give something back to our WordPress family.

Thanks Michael for your greeting message. I have some experience in Wikipedia so I hope I can help Wordpress Codex. Xoex 21:31, 18 July 2013 (UTC)
