Linking to External Sites

Hello, I'm J.D. and I'm a codex moderator. I noticed that you and another user were having a disagreement over whether or not a link you added to the codex is spam. The codex has a very strict policy regarding links to external sites, and we generally consider anybody adding a link to their own site as spamming. The idea of the codex is to be a place for people to find the information that they need, not just a wall of links sending them everywhere else in the world to find that information. If you think that there is more useful information that could be added to improve a particular codex page, please feel free to add it in. This is much more likely to be helpful to readers than a link to off the site. If a user works to actually improve a codex article, they might even find times when it is useful to summarize a particular issue in the codex, while linking to an external site for a more in-depth explanation. That is less likely to be considered spam than if you just paste in new links at the bottom of articles.
