These commands can be used in all the IRC applications

/server <ubication> <port> |
Your IRC client will connect to the IRC server. The port is optional (usually is 6667) |
/join <channel> |
Your IRC client will join you to the talk channel selected. |
/nick <your new nick> |
Change your nick. In IRC, you can't use spaces (ex. The Phantom), because the server could cut your nick (in the example, your nick will be The instead of The Phantom |
/msg <user> <message> |
Send a message to the user. For example, /msg Potter_System Hi!, will send Hi! only to Potter_System |
/disconnect |
You'll be disconnected of the server. |
