Thanks for contributing to Codex. Please let me know if I can help you. MichaelH (talk) 14:57, 12 May 2005 (UTC)
Hi Richard. Good question about the email. Seems that Codex has that ability disabled. I'll see if I can find out why. For now, as you've seen, the discussion page is used to communicate, and yes it's does intrude somewhat. At least a User is notified when something new has been added/changed in their User discussion/talk page.
As for the minor edit, that's your preference, but I read somewhere (I think wikipedia) that if it's in question, you shouldn't check the minor edit; it's a matter of courtesy not to 'decide' for the reader if it's minor. My impression is that for a small spelling or punctuation correction, checking that box is appropriate. Is that 'hazy' enough for you!! Again Welcome.
I would think that maybe you hadn't added your User page to your watchlist, which is maybe why my edit did not show up on your watchlist.
Thank you for the note about the date. I have since edited the Help guide to remove that, which was not really needed or applicable to the Codex. Thank you for taking the time to read the guide. :)
Hi,
Those funky characters seeped in during an upgrade to a more recent version of Mediawiki a few months ago. If you see them somewhere, please change them to single quotes ( ' ' ). Thanks,
I think it is a bug, or maybe a problem with this installation of Mediawiki. Things are shaky round these parts partly due to the problems involved in upgrading to a newer version. Hopefully when a new updated version comes out and works fine, Matt will update the software. Right now, maintenance operations are not logged properly in the db, and this and other problems may be the reason for the Watchlist funkiness. Sorry about that :)
