Talk:User Levels

I'm updating this now. --MDAWaffe 23:51, 14 Feb 2005 (GMT)

Try that on for size. Please make any corrections needed. --MDAWaffe 00:49, 15 Feb 2005 (GMT)

We got a user on the forums who wants to know at which level he can NOT see the drafts in his Manage window from other users. I just skimmed through this, and it seems to list what people can do but not what they can "see" at the different levels. Can we add this? Thanks. Lorelle 03:06, 25 Feb 2005 (GMT)

You can see drafts of all users with a lower user level. --MDAWaffe - Talk 02:01, 20 Mar 2005 (UTC)

When I set a user to level 2 they still could not manage comments awaiting moderation. I had to raise them to level 4. Is this an error in the documentation? Evan Chaney 19 March 2005

Yes. Thanks! --MDAWaffe - Talk 02:01, 20 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Changing User Level

I've been poking around this and while there is a link from "What Registered Users Can Do" to "Changing User Levels" I see no instructions here about how to change the level of a user, to promote or demote. We need to have a section on this with instructions. Lorelle 01:31, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)

After seeing a plea for this in the Forums, I added the info into the article. Slash and burn if needs be. How this didn't get in....silly stuff. It's there now. Lorelle 20:53, 25 Mar 2005 (UTC)

User menu privileges in WordPress 1.5.1
  • A blank cell means that the menu option is not even available to a particular user level.
  • A "-" means that users have the option, but only part of the functionality.
  • A "+" means that the user has full functionality available for that menu item.
  • Please edit this if I have something wrong!!

1.2 User Levels

MikeLittle 09:45, 18 Jun 2005 (UTC) : These are the original notes I wrote on the subject back in WordPress 0.72 days! You can tell it is post-b2 (barely) because it mentions editing Links. Given the excellent documentation above and that the user privileges system is being revamped for 1.6+, I wouldn't bother trying to expand this too much.

Level 7 & 8

I notiecd level 7 introduces:

  • Presentation
    • Themes
    • Theme Editor
  • Plugins
    • Plugins
    • Plugin Editor

but level 8 also says it introduces those as new abilities. Which one is correct?

User:Eclip5e that's not what I see on test blog at 1.5.2. Presentation and Plugins appear at Level 8. Thanks for the input. You might bring this up at the Support Forums].
