Again, welcome and let us know how we can help you help us on the WordPress Codex.

Template Copyright

Arlen22 - recently you added several templates to Codex that look like they came from Wikipedia. Do you hold the copyright to those templates? Thanks. --MichaelH (talk)

No, I don't. I added them because I thought they would be useful down the road. I assume you mean Navbox, Navbar, and Documentation. If I want them, how would I go about it? Arlen22 18:58, 8 June 2010 (UTC)

Actually, I'd say because of licensing you will have to forget them, at least in context of Codex. --MichaelH (talk)
That's a pain! Arlen22 19:21, 8 June 2010 (UTC)
Templates copied from Wikipedia will be deleted for copyright violation. --MichaelH (talk) 21:25, 8 June 2010 (UTC)

Your Plans

Arlen22 - if you are planning on making changes to Codex, please present your ideas to the wp-docs email list to get input on your suggestions and ideas. Thanks. --MichaelH (talk) 00:24, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

My intention is only to improve it, not make major (or minor) design changes. Arlen22 01:47, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
Please detail ("improve it" isn't quite descriptive) your plans to the wp-docs email list before proceeding. Thank You. --MichaelH (talk)

Licensing statement deleted--Codex has one license

Arlen22 - I have deleted your statement about your dual license--Codex is licensed under one license--you can't change that--please abide by that license. Thank you. --MichaelH (talk) 23:35, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

It is a note for anyone who wants to use my content under CC-By-SA. Is that legal? Arlen22 23:46, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
I think it's best not to mention it here as the statement becomes ambiguous in this context. mrmist 18:53, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
Okay, deleted, then reverted back to mrmist's version. Leaving that statement as long as it is clear that content is contributed to Codex under one license and that contributions by Arlen22 are under the Codex license only. --MichaelH (talk) 20:35, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
Sorry it seems even my own reply made no sense. I was meaning "here" as the Codex in general rather than this talk page. Specifically, that it is unclear to talk about releasing material under varying licences [on the Codex] and so is best not done at all. And with that clarification I think I'll say no more about it, as am in danger of drowning myself in meta-discussion. mrmist 21:54, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

IRC

If you have an issue with a particular person on IRC, perhaps it's best to contact them directly, rather than post about it here, where it might not be noticed by said person? Codex discussion, where required, takes place on list wp-docs.
