Requesting to add all available list of metabox id's

Protect pages

Where can I ask for a higher acess in Codex, only for portuguese Brazil? I´m managing portuguese-brazil codex right now and need to protect some page or batch replace strings also. Since is messed up, people aren't supporting me in brazilian comunity at all, it seems the fact Codex is hosted in WordPress.org (belong to someone else) just don't appeal any help on.

I don't mind if hosted somwhere else, if don't belongs me or local owners, I want to help the portuguese-spearkers comunity, if theres a place, why not?!

How can you help me help you

Hello I've been using wordpress for quite some time, and got a bit tired of writing tests on every project I start just to check some function's return format. Right now I don't have the availability to write complete articles, but started to fix typos and add examples to existing ones, this way we all can rely on the Codex instead of harvesting through blogs and source code for proper documentation.

Import Categories

Hey Michael,

after doing some research and hair ripping a user pointed me towards your little piece of code that is supposed to import categories and child categories.

I am pretty new to php and coding in general. So what I did was creating a plugin that executes your code upon activation. The cats are not imported, though.

Documentation Practices - What are we documenting?

Hey,

I noticed you reverted my revert (under the name mwsource) back to a previous version of this page I understand that the page was edited to reflect an upcoming change in 3.1, but its importance as part of the current documentation for 3.0.5 still applies, especially when it's introducing a completely new function with no documentation as the alternative.

Documentation normally focuses on a function or method's role relative to the current production version. Version support for documentation is understandably difficult as the WP engine releases new versions often, but I would like to contribute to make the documentation as accurate to the current production release as possible.

What are your thoughts?

Query & Suggestions

Hi, I was invited by User:Jiehanzheng (who is the current maintainer of http://cn.wordpress.org) to help translate Codex documentation into zh-cn since I'm more familiar with MediaWiki functions than him.

I was shocked after I have read several existing pages.

Some users have added advertisement in the documentation. None of the sysops have noticed that and remove that.[1]Or is this kind of advertisement acceptable?
When Jiehan asked me what to do, I told him "Remove the ad and give that user a warning." He told me there're no user warning templates.
It seems that wp-docs mail-list is not monitored by any sysop here.

As a patroller and rollbacker in zh Wikipedia, I'd like to offer some suggestions:

Add a central page for all contributors to report vandalism and abuse since sysops may not understand languages other than English.
Add a Village Pump page for every locale to help contributors cooperate more smoothly.
Improve policies, guidelines and templates. Some basic policies, guidelines and templates are still missing. Such as the signature policy, Template:inuse template, user warning templates and welcome templates in different locales. Many policies, guidelines and templates can be imported and altered from Wikipedia.
Consider using the http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:FlaggedRevs extension and allow *trusted* editors to review pages.

Thanks for your reply. BTW I want to make sure that is this kind of self-promotion acceptable? [2] Since the guideline didn't mention about promotion and there's no community consensus and we are having a little argument here [3], I'd like to ask a sysop for the final decision.

There may be no official policy but we don't really allow self promotion links in Codex. If you are worried about attribution then you can look at the History of each article to see what you have contributed. To that end I have removed any signature type sections of articles. --MichaelH (talk) 18:59, 2 March 2011 (UTC)

Styles - Image align

Hey Michael,

Thanks for the heads up on my talk page. Just have a question about how I find out who manages css/codex styling. I was browsing the Codex:Styles page, and noticed that none of the image align functions work.

So, for example: [[Image:codex-logo-2.png]] displays as above, inline, within the text.

But [[Image:codex-logo-2.png|right|thumbnail]] displays the image like so, ignoring the right align float, disturbing the first two lines of following text.

Who do I talk to to fix this? I know its pretty minor, but from having a look at the css, it appears that all it needs is .tright {float:right;} added to the stylesheet.

Twenty Ten dark child theme

Hi Michael, Thanks for the comment on the link I added to the Child Themes discussion.

With twenty eleven the child theme will not work with the dark theme selected,if the user wanted to edit the colors in the dark theme, this is due to the dark stylesheet being loaded last, this will mean that users will start hacking the twenty eleven parent.

I added the link as it is my first contribution, if I edit the codex page to refect the changes, I am not sure to edit or add, would it be better as a trac ticket where the devs could look at changing the priority.

EDIT: I think I understand the concept better now, I was worried about editing the Child Theme page main content, I have added a Note section to the page with comments and the code for a twenty eleven child theme with color priority, could you have a look and see if it is correct.

Current info on how to restrict access?

Your page http://codex.wordpress.org/User:MichaelH/Plugins/Restriction is an amazing resource, but it's daunting to go through those and find that many have not been maintained. I'm guessing that since you put the page together, you've got a personal need to restrict access to content, or you know someone who does. The best solution I've found is CaPa Protect, but it's not clear if it will continue to be maintained.

I'm just wondering what your current solution is. (I've got a couple of queries on the support forum, but they don't seem to be getting any replies.)

Helping with spanish translation

Hi, im triying to put order on spanish translation of codex.

Now i seeying using templates for each language, but i dont understand why title of article are on english.

Other problem is i cant delete pages because i dont have enough privileges. How i can mark a page to an admin do it?

I'm administrator of http://enciclopedia.us.es and have experience using mediawiki.

Can you say me how i can see admins work and timeline project to organize?

can't up[oad video

I've been trying to upload my own video to my site and i keep getting and an error theat the upload failed because the file type is not pewremitted for security reasons. the file type is m2ts. I added this file type in the network settings. I have easywebplayer lite and easy albums plugins installed. The easy albums stated that it supported the m2ts files but I still get the error. How can I suucesfully upload these videos to mysite? Please help!
