--NuclearMoose 01:51, 11 Sep 2004 (UTC) Podz...you da man! I will look through the stuff later tonight. What an awesome job you are doing! Can't say enough about your hard work, mate.
--Podz 12:19, 11 Sep 2004 (UTC) hehe, it's okay :) I've added screenshots to the database backup. Are they okay ? To be honest I've not looked into the formatting issues as such, I just want to transfer what I have at T2 into here, and hopefully improve it where possible by using any feedback I've had. Matt's Asides page now added too
You do know that at this rate I'll be bored soon and need more work ....
--NuclearMoose 08:52, 19 Sep 2004 (UTC) The FileZilla tutorial looks pucker, mate!
--Podz 10:08, 19 Sep 2004 (UTC)Cheers NM - I'll bring it over in the next day or so. And ... err.... what next ? :)
Carthik 07:38, 20 Sep 2004 (UTC) Podz, if you could move the FileZilla doc over, everyone can start improving it, but I see you are already going to do that :) Great work, mate!
--Carthik 08:21, 20 Sep 2004 (UTC) Also, Podz, it might be better to include a non-existent link to an existing page that will refer to the future doc, and then writing the doc, so we won't have dead end or standalone pages :)
--Podz 08:30, 20 Sep 2004 (UTC)What I want to try and do is get the FileZilla work looking good on my machine, then copy it over. I'm not keen on how the wiki has treated the images with the other tutorials I've done - I don't think the document flows well and the user will have to scroll back and forth (not good for someone who is learning) so if I can get it better, I'll do that first. Not sure what you mean by a "non-existent link to an existing page" ?
--Carthik 06:10, 21 Sep 2004 (UTC)
What I meant by the link thingy is that before you start a new page, say "Using Filezilla", you could edit an existing codex page, to add in a link to the (as yet) non existent page called "Using Filezilla", save that change, and then click on the Link to start creating the "Using Filezilla" page. This will help prevent dead end pages, and pages that are not linked-to from anywhere.
--Podz 12:58, 21 Sep 2004 (UTC) Ah! Now I understand :) I know the stuff I've done isn't linked well (as in not at all) but for what I've done so far I really just wanted to get things in and more of a feel for how the codex works. I'll try and do it properly :) :) I think as the next stage moves on though, it will be clearer as to what goes where and there will be no need for me to dump pages from here.
--Podz 00:06, 12 Dec 2004 (UTC) Page tidy... 2 new guides thought of, though credit for the first goes to NM. It's Sunday morning..just.. hopefully I'll get them both done inside a week. They relate to forum issues, so shouldn't collide with other stuff.
Podz, Thanks for all of your hard work. It's much appreciated. --NuclearMoose 05:59, 2 Jan 2005 (GMT)
Note from NuclearMoose 18:31, 8 Jan 2005 (GMT)
Important: Please read and follow the Codex Guidelines before creating a new page.
After creating the new page, use [[Category:New_page_created]] at the bottom of the page, and it will be flagged for quality control and editing, if necessary.
Thank you for contributing to Codex!
Lorelle 16:08, 17 Mar 2005 (UTC)
I'm hoping you're the right person to handle this. After doing edits on the codex I found it annoying that there's no favicon for the codex in my FF tabs since I'm one of those idjits who routinely runs with 20 pages open and tabbed. So anyway, I created one from that sunflower image in the upper left corner of all the codex pages. You can snag it here: New Codex Favicon
I hope you choose to use it, and I'm hoping you're the guy who can install it. If you aren't, can you tell me who might be able to handle it, or, alternatively, can you pass this note on to that person? kickass 14:26, 30 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Podz, can you look at this FAQ_Installation and tell me what you think of this format. Thanks MichaelH (talk) 14:38, 30 May 2005 (UTC) just fixed link thanks MichaelH (talk) 20:15, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)
REMINDER
WE NEED YOU!
Codex Cleanup Week is Saturday, June 18 through Sunday, June 26. This is a major push to clean up the Codex and stuff it full of great documenation so we can relax a little this summer.
Thanks for everything you do! Lorelle 21:53, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC)
I'm excited about this. Okay, while you are pouring over all the backup articles, can we also incorporate this into the schameal? User:Podz/Repair It applies with all the database stuff as a good aside. Thanks!!! Lorelle 19:53, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)
If you could go over the following pages and fix them for release or answer the questions, we'd be eternally grateful. Lorelle 23:31, 25 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Delete it. I've copied it to my space as I want to check a few details at some point.
I will read later today (Sunday)
This needs screenshots to assist.
Sir, in the revamp of the FAQ I used your Codex:Link well page and put comments at http://codex.wordpress.org/User:MichaelH/Copy_of_Link_well. After your IRC comments about polling users on how useful the Codex was for them I created the following page to at least analyse page views. See: http://codex.wordpress.org/User:Michael/Page_View_Analysis
The Codex Documenation Team and all of WordPress thank you for your time, effort, and contributions during this past Codex Cleanup Week. It has been amazing. Over twenty new documents were added, and more are still in the works that will be released over the next couple of weeks. The entire Codex is now categorized, improving the ability of users to find the related information they are looking for.
The next big Codex-related event is WordPress Backup Week July 23-30. The project will promote backing up your WordPress database and site for the user's protection and further develop the relationship between the Codex and the WordPress Support Forum. Documentation volunteers will be cleaning up and expanding the backup and restore information on the site and Forum volunteers will be readied to help users in the Forum walk through their site backups. We need your help.
We are also starting a page for information and sign up for a variety of Fundraising and Promotions Events for WordPress and your help is needed there, too.
Thanks again for helping.
Lorelle and the whole Cleanup Codex volunteer team
Podz, can I go ahead and assign a category [[Category:Forum]] to this page Support Forum Volunteers?
Oh certainly ! --Podz 11:41, 2 Jul 2005 (UTC)
I had some thoughts on "preparing" volunteers. We need to start building up information, resources and continuity. These are just suggestions. Go with it however you want.
Backup Week: As soon as the docs are even slightly close to ready, why not invite those on the mailing list to review them and edit them. This will help them learn more and be prepared to assist with the backups, and get the involved with the whole process.
Upgrade Preparedness: Not for the "oldies" but also for the newbies, we should have a discussion about preparing for upgrades, providing links to the Install and Upgrade docs on the Codex and asking people for links to the most common problems and solutions, and what they are. This will bring others up to speed on these issues and give them references to build upon. Also, it should be mentioned about being on the hackers and testers mailing lists to keep informed.
From what I see, I think there are some issues that didn't get thoroughly checked and a 1.5.1.4 or whatever number they come up with, will be released VERY soon. They need to be ready for it.
Preparation Training for v1.6: Keeping opinions about the new version at bay, it would be helpful to know who on the forum team are using/familiar with it and to maybe ask one or two of them to get together to present an "online training discussion" about how it works and what its features are. Give them a month or so to prepare and dish it out to us on the mailing list a bit at a time so even if volunteers aren't using it, they can get the gist of the terminology, new look, new info, and begin to prepare them for the upgrade. This would hand out responsibility and be an incentive for volunteers to stick around and help because there is "something to look forward to". We're going to be doing something a little similar soon in the Codex but it would be nice to have it in the Forum list and invite Codex folks to cross over and learn. Connect the dots more.
Lorelle 17:30, 4 Jul 2005 (UTC)
If I could I would .........
All the above must be on a single dedicated page with each upgrade linked from it.
The download file must link directly to the main Upgrade page. --Podz 19:24, 4 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Okay Mr. Podz, here's the revised Stickys for the Forum.
It might not be a bad idea to have a separate Codex article for each of these topics to facilitate future editing, but will leave that for you and Lorelle to decide.
These are great Michael - do you want to post them to the list and invite editing ? --Podz 21:18, 6 Jul 2005 (UTC)
List being what? Email list or Forum? Invite to edit the Codex pages? MichaelH (talk) 23:01, 6 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Forum list. Anyone who is interested in the forums should be there, and I don't want to invite people who do not use the forum to advise on how we do things in the forum. --Podz 11:44, 7 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Okay email sent to wp-forums inviting others to edit etc. MichaelH (talk) 12:28, 7 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Now that is EXCELLENT stuff :) - and yes, it was ! :) --Podz 10:55, 6 Sep 2005 (GMT)
Sir, here's interesting page regarding export of wiki to PDF: http://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=PDF_Export
Me a Sir ? Noooo :)
I looked at that fairly early on when I started this, but that requires code changes here for which I don't have access. I'm not sure how stable it would be as the wiki gets upgraded. Which is a shame because it offers (or seems to) almost custom docs.... --Podz 16:11, 8 Sep 2005 (GMT)
Here's another export possibility using the MediaWiki Special:Export ability. For example Special:Export/User_Levels. MichaelH (talk)
I think this page, Documentation_team, is more of a "Who is on the Team and who can I look to for guidance?", and not meant to be a copyright page.
This page, http://codex.wordpress.org/Special:Listusers, is NOT a page of Codex contributers. To get all the contributers you'd need to individually look at the 'History' of each page.
Thanks Michael.
That therefore begs the question that if effort is put into maintaining a list of copyright holder of the GPL code, why the same effort is not put into contributors. It IS possible, amd yet all I hear is "Hey, it's GPL". So is the code - so why one copyright list and not another ?
This NEEDS addressing. --Podz 13:03, 15 Sep 2005 (GMT)
Hi podz!
I'm not sure I'm at the right address here (probably not) and you probably know already anyway, but "You've got SPAM..." :)
And it's German spam, too...
I'm sure you'll know whom to contact.
