Carthik, I noticed you playing with the php "switch". If you haven't figured it out yet, just make sure 1. to start it at the beginning of the line, and 2. insert a space between each "<code><span style="color: #000000"> </nowiki>" and the actual code fragment:<br /><br /><nowiki></span> </code> <?php the_tag(); ?> <code><span style="color: #000000"> </nowiki><br /><br />Gives us<br /><br /></span> </code> <?php the_tag(); ?> %%% -[[User:Kafkaesqui|Kaf]] 08:23, 5 Jan 2005 (GMT) ---- Note from [[User:NuclearMoose|NuclearMoose]] 18:11, 8 Jan 2005 (GMT) {{Newpage}} ---- <blockquote style="background-color:#eee; font-style:italic; padding: 6px;">Hey Kaf, what do you say to editing the Template Tags pages to have the type of parameters listed too, like at the old wiki (boolean, integer, string etc)? I think it makes thing unambiguous and professional.</blockquote> They were missing in action when I started on Codex, and thought there'd been some decision to nix them?? But I agree, it leaves things less confused as to argument type for a parameter. Easy enough to slip them in. So be it! <blockquote style="background-color:#eee; font-style:italic; padding: 6px;">Also, maybe the tables you were working on for describing the Template Tags' parameters can be used for all the pages, eh?</blockquote> Not sure what you mean here. Tables? <blockquote style="background-color:#eee; font-style:italic; padding: 6px;">Please reply at my User_talk page so I know that you've replied :)</blockquote> That's fast becoming an obvious limitation to the talk feature around here. Perhaps Matt can dig up some magic reply-to markup to deal with that? If not, a pre-styled blockquote markup would be a nice addition... <tt>:/</tt> P.S. I'm thinking we should avoid php syntax highlighting on examples, that is unless we can get the markup tag for it tweaked to allow double-quotes (instead of having it escape them: <tt>\"</tt>) and doubled-up single quotes for *empty* parameters (which initiates an emphasis tag). Finding one example highlighted and the next not may be disconcerting, and I don't want to be left having to explain the reason (since the reason is, honestly, fairly lame). ---- Thanks, Carthik, for your advice and for everything! I didn't want to fill it out myself since there seems to be a number of bugs with Uploading in 1.5. The other issue is with Options->Discussion. There is already a very nice 1.2-centric page [[Discussion Options]]. Since all this stuff is intended to be for version 1.5 only, I was unsure about how to proceed. [[User:Lorelle|Lorelle]] 19:00, 1 Feb 2005 (GMT) Thanks for answering my questions about the Answers pages. I hadn't noticed the "links to" link. I agree that the FAQ should have all the questions and the various pages have the answers. That's the norm. As for the links from the Main Page, I just to clarify what you said. 1) Don't remove links on the main page (I haven't). 2) ??Add links from the subpages to the Main Page section? I have done a little cross linking between sections because it felt appropriate. People will often look in one section when the answer is in an another and adding a cross link to the other section just helps everyone find the information they need instead of bouncing around. But only if it is relative. As for putting all the links from the subpage (those unique to each section) in the Main Page, if that is your intent, I think its messy. A lead in that identifies what types of topics will be found is better than listing everything. So I need some clarification. Thanks! Thanks for the info on the Meta:Tasks page. Who IS in charge of creating such a list? Should it be done on the mailing list? Is it a group activity or free-for-all? I put a list, per request, in the Wiki Activities page, which a couple people put notes on, but that is a good start for things to do. But someone has to be "in charge" of creating such a list and maintaining it. I'll add tasks and even layout the task page to help get it started but I'm not in a position to maintain such a listing. But a "things to do" list is critical here, one that not only lists things needing doing, but features an invitation to "sign up" so we know if something is happening on a task or if it has just been sitting there collecting dust.
You already know these things, I'm just your housekeeping nag, and I don't know the decorum for how and who this should be done. We need some guidance here, and it can't be anonymous. Lorelle 16:02, 4 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Reply: Lorelle, thanks a bunch for that quick page you put together. We can use that as a launchpad for the actual page. Do we really need a "director"? I think of myself as someone who keep the house in shape, when possible (and required). You are doing some great work, so you can do your own thing, and let me, or some other admin know if you have a particular issue that you cannot resolve and we'll all try our best to help you.
As for the Task List : here's what I can do - I will create a list of things that I think require some attention. It may take a little while before I dedicate a day or two to this, but in the meantime, please feel free to add tasks to the page - tasks that you think are essential, or even nice to have. If someone disagrees, it can be removed. I am quite insensitive to criticism, and know that it helps to put my best foot forward, without letting it grow roots, so I can adjust my position after seeing the feedback.
Thanks a lot for your help :) I really appreaciate it.
I've been chatting around and thinking about this User:Lorelle/Sample_Task_List and I've done some minor revisions to make it easier to use. Again, I think it's time to get serious and have some of the documentation team step up to be recognized as "coordinators", overseers, overlords, or whatever name as leaders of specific areas. Responsibility gives pride and "reward" to volunteers, too, so they stick around a little longer. And it helps to coordinate new user's energies to the areas they are interested in. If someone wants to work on development docs, they would know that Jack Smith (or whoever) is in charge of them, so go talk to them and see what needs to be done.
I'm starting to put together a little "team" for Lessons, so someone else can help with the dirty work and soon replace me...if necessary. Also to help with the potential contest coming up, that I will just not have time to fully monitor by myself. I think having a coordinated task list and list of who is doing what will help everyone feel more like they have a sense of ownership. So whatcha think? Lorelle 23:20, 3 May 2005 (UTC)
Did you want me to start the moving process for Lessons stuff on Thursday or are you? I can do it towards the end of the day, if you want. I'd like to put it under Getting Started with WordPress, since it applies, and not give it it's own section. Or should we? Maybe they are "that" important?
I'm also still in debate mode about Lesson or Lessons for the page name and setting them up as subpages such as Lessons/Making_Fun_of_CSS or independent pages. Which do you think is best?
I also haven't noticed any edits on those pages, and there are some things I'm a little nervous about, especially on User:Lorelle/Stylizing_Page-Links and the very end of User:Lorelle/Stepping_Into_Template_Tags. I'm especially proud of myself on the last article.
Let me know, boss. Lorelle 02:19, 7 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Been missing you, Carthik, hope all is well.
The Lessons are doing great, but needs more editors to make sure everything is working fine. I'm slowly getting some folks who are interested in them to help form a kind a team. I'm also working on another team to help put together the contest. I'm also starting to work on an article about the WordPress groups. Busy, busy. We're starting to get a lot of new people who appear to be serious, so as a test, I put together a Template:Welcome as a start to help them. I posted it to a couple of my "co-workers" to have them edit and comment on it, so please look at it and tell me what you think. I just thought we needed a little more of a hello, and since Moose used to do all this, and he's not around here any more, someone has to pick up the slack on greeting people. Not that it's me, just as an idea on how to greet new users.
I also posted that Task/Signup list in my User Page that we talked about. While the free-for-all is nice, I still think we need some kind of a sign up list to coordinate something.
Anyway, I'm plugging along. Hope you're doing good things, too. Lorelle 03:11, 3 May 2005 (UTC)
Thanks, Carthik, for those quick fixes on serendipity and SimonFarine. The Localizing Wordpress links are now fixed, and I won't touch the Spanish pages (as if I would know what to change) ;-} MichaelH 18:47, 4 May 2005 (UTC)
Regarding marking pages for deletion, I will be glad to add the {rfd}. I've encountered some pages in DoubleRedirects that are NOT linked to by any other page. Should I mark these for deletion also? I ask because I thought a #REDIRECT was the only thing allowed on a 'redirected' page--examples are Make a Directory Writable, Permalink Structure, and Upgrading. Thanks and let me know. MichaelH 19:46, 4 May 2005 (UTC)
I posted the list of Codex:X articles I thought met the criteria. I went through the entire Codex All Pages list and recategorized them in order to pull out these. I thought about ordering them by how we have things on the Main Page, but then I didn't, trusting my instincts to see what I could come up with, especially after working on the Articles Wanted List and getting a fresh perspective on how to structure things. Whatcha think? And what's next? Lorelle 23:48, 7 May 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for the welcome. Recognition of my handle is a bonus!
I entered the date as instructed in the Metawiki guidelines, but I did find it bizarre that it was formatted as broken links.
Any idea why your edit doesn't show on my watchlist?--Al-khowarizmi 18:12, 12 May 2005 (UTC)
Hey, you made the change at Guidelines almost before I hit the 'Save Page' button ;-} Thanks and appreciate the massive effort you've thrown at the project!! MichaelH (talk) 21:52, 12 May 2005 (UTC)
You're welcome, Michael. I just happened to be around at that time.
Thanks for the welcome message. I've been slowly working on flushing out the filter hooks on Plugin API. I'm trying out a style similar to the Template Tags where each hook has it's own page. I'm working in a scratch area: Filter Hooks Draft. I've only filled out a couple of the hooks so far (try list_cats and the_date), but let me know what you think. I'm very open to suggestions. I know renaming is a PITA and certainly don't think it should be a high-priority task - but I'm glad someone appreciates my pedantry ;) If you're ever up for a scheduled renaming binge, let me know and I'd be happy to help w/ fixing links.
I went through Special:Allpages and I think I caught all the malformed titles; may have missed one or two, and left alone issues with foreign language pages, but otherwise what's currently on the docket should do it.

Carthik, I've been adding the Welcome Template to new User's Talk pages, but if a user has posted in the past, like over 60 days ago, should Welcome be put on their Talk page? MichaelH (talk) 17:15, 16 May 2005 (UTC)
My watchlist page shows the same list regardless of what I enter for "show last".
i.e. even if I click 1 hour, I get a list going back to 12 May.
Is this a known bug?--Al-khowarizmi 08:25, 17 May 2005 (UTC)

Carthik;
User:Chiieddy suggested on Codex talk:Creating a User Page making the Creating a User Page clearer--maybe a link that actual start the User page?
I'm going to work on merge stuff over the next few days and I found that the Mailing Lists doc is listed for merge. Yet it has no tag that I can see on the document, and you just cleaned it up and worked it over and there are a bunch of links to it. Ideas? Or is this a "Mailing lists" to "Mailing Lists" thing? That's a redirect...but what do I know.
In fact, when I go through all the different kinds of merges on the list, there is only one article to work on. And I checked "rename" and there is nothing there. I thought Yami was going through marking all of those. Did you fix them already? Gee, and nothing for me to do now. ;-) Lorelle 03:32, 24 May 2005 (UTC)
Can we clean up the red links in the translation bar? Thanks. Lorelle 23:25, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)
REMINDER
WE NEED YOU!
Codex Cleanup Week is Saturday, June 18 through Sunday, June 26. This is a major push to clean up the Codex and stuff it full of great documenation so we can relax a little this summer.
Thanks for everything you do! Lorelle 21:41, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC)
1. These two "articles" are a mess and weak alone. It's been recommended by myself and others that we merge them, but we worry about any links that might be coming from wordpress.org/docs or elsewhere. Can you check and give permission to merge these? Thanks.

2. I just stumbled upon User:Carthik/Plunge_into_Plugins. This is terrific. Can we get it cleaned up and released. It's a great dot connector for those wanting to do more with plugins. We're getting a lot of whines about how "dated" the Codex is with plugin making information. Lorelle 13:27, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)
3. Here is a list of articles I "stumbled" upon that need to be checked to see if they should be cleaned up, beefed up, and moved out into the documentation. They are in user pages.
